description

The Dahshur Necropolis is a royal tomb located south of Cairo. It is a part of the UNESCO heritage site called "Memphis and its Necropolis," along with the Saqqara and Giza Necropolis. It's about 2 kilometers from the south side of the Saqqara necropolis Although it has 5 pyramids and remains of tombs and temples, it is famous for two distinctive pyramids with unique architectural styles:

  • The Bent Pyramid: changes angels halfway up from 54 degrees to 43 degrees.
  • The Red Pyramid: The first successful attempt to build a true smooth-sided pyramid and the oldest royal tomb in a pyramid form. It was called the Red Pyramid because of the reddish limestone used.

Just when you think Egypt has only 3 pyramids, it dazzles you with more! The Dahshur Pyramids are a part of your history package when in Cario. Make sure to get the most out of it.
